What is the Orton Effect?

The Orton Effect is a photographic technique that blends two different photos of the same scene to achieve a mix of high and low detail areas. It essentially adds a gentle blur and glow to give a dreamlike quality to landscapes and portraits. It was originally conceived by Michael Orton in the 1980s.

What is RAID?

RAID stands for redundant array of independent disks or redundant array of inexpensive devices and is a way to provide storage across multiple drives that act as a single volume (or drive). Depending on which level or type of RAID you choose, data can be duplicated or mirrored, offering data redundancy and protection. Perhaps you’ve heard of RAID systems? But just not sure what they are, or why they can be a benefit? So what is RAID?

Should I convert to DNG?

It's possible you completely skipped this as A/ You had no idea what it meant or B/ you just totally missed it. During a holiday Netflix movie binge, I was watching Jurassic Park (1,2 & 3). I was struck by a line Dr Grant said to one of the kids. That there are two types of boys, the astronomer and the astronaut. This got me thinking it could also apply to photographers. So which are you, Are you an astronomer or an astronaut?
