The Art of Still Life with Melbourne Camera Club

The Art of Still Life with Melbourne Camera Club

I have been running a series of photographic workshops this year for the Melbourne Camera Club, the oldest camera club in Victoria (perhaps even Australia), still running. My First was a fabulous little Film Noir workshop, we then did Body Sculpting and Rear Sync, this time I took a slower approach and taught the Art of Still Life. I’m sure most of you know I have a deep love and passion for this genre. Time to slow down and be quite intentional with my shots.

We set up several table (6 in total) and stage several different scenes. Some with flowers and fruit, some dark and moody, some light and bright. We discussed composition, colour theory, staging and styling and so much more.

I was joined by Talia and Alex from Blonde Robot who brought along the range of Hobolite LED Lights for everyone to play and experiment with, so much fun. here are some of the shots Behind the Scenes.

Talia (from Blonde Robot) took a heap of behind the scenes photos, including some of me “in the wild” and I put together a small video. I don’t think I have ever had photos of me ‘teaching’ still life before, so that’s pretty cool.
