Neewer SF65Q Quick Release Soft box
I recently wrote an article on the CB200C Constant Light from Neewer and I mentioned Neewer SF65Q quick release 65cm Soft box, but I thought I would do a more in-depth review on this fabulous little softbox. While constant lights have come such a long way, many of the soft boxes available had been big, bulky and to be honest difficult to set up. That’s all changed.
Neewer has been around a while now and I honestly believe that these new quick-release softboxes have upped their game. Let’s have a closer look!
Note: Neewer sent the CB200C & SF65Q 65cm Softbox kit to review. However, this is a completely independent review. All thoughts about this light are our own.
This parabolic quick-release soft box comes in 55cm, 65cm, 85cm and 120cm versions. Check out the Unboxing video on YouTube.

Cons
Frankly, in the time I have been using this softbox, there have been no problems.
The Neewer SF65Q is a quick-release parabolic softbox. The quick-release function does exactly what it says. No longer do you have to fight with your soft boxes and get frustrated and leave them set up, as it takes too long to pack up and set them up again. This new 65cm softbox is set up in seconds and is a joy to use. It comes with a grid and a beauty dish insert, as well as a white diffuser cover. It also creates beautiful soft light to work with, just gorgeous for portraits. Also, it comes with a great carry bag.
Neewer SF65Q Features:
Hexadecagon Parabolic Softbox– This deep, parabolic softbox features a smooth, even silver internal coating that broadens and diffuses the output while retaining the neutral color rendering index (CRI) and temperature, spreading the light more evenly and widely to improve shooting results. Two layers of diffusers can be attached via touch fasteners to soften harsh glare and eliminate unwanted shadows
Quick Release & Quick Fold Structure– 16 highly resilient ribs give this softbox incomparable durability and an impeccable parabolic shape that can withstand tens of thousands of presses without deformation for years of use. The quick-release design allows you to set the softbox up in less than 15 seconds without any tool. Foldable and merely 3.3lb (1.5kg) in weight, the softbox is easy to store and transport inside the included carrying bag
Customizable Honeycomb Grid & Diffusers– Using the honeycomb grid can make the light shape more confined and directional, allowing the beam angle to be concentrated at 45°, which gives photographers a dramatic and expressive light effect to define their model’s facial structure. The 2 pieces of high-quality diffusers can be freely combined in use
Attach Via Bowens Mount– Connecting via Bowens mount, the softbox is compatible with various Neewer lights like the CB200C and other studio strobe lights and continuous LED video lights with Bowens mount
Unparalleled Versatility– Designed for portraits, product photography, beauty & fashion shoots, weddings, corporate headshots, and other photography styles. Collapsible for ease of storage, the large carrying bag keeps the softbox portable for outdoor use with an inner mesh pocket to store the grid

Neewer SF65Q— Such a fantastic softbox for the studio
I used this in the studio for both portraits and still-life photography. I was super impressed with how good it was and how easy it was to use. I placed a 65cm softbox on the Neewer CB200C using the Bowens mount. The fact that it is also lightweight and easy to use is a big plus for me. The price is also really good for what you get and affordable for many photographers.
Available from Neewer and B&H, as is the SF65Q softbox.
Our verdict
Neewer SF65Q
★★★★★5/5
This Soft box from Neewer is the perfect addition to my studio. The fact that it is so easy to setup and lightweight is a big plus for me. It certainly punches above its weight in regard to performance The Quick release and Bowens mount makes the SF Series perfect addition to their range. The price is another big bonus. Five stars from me. Add the Neewer CB200C light (or any other light) and you’re good to go.
