Exploring Gen AI Remove and Lens Blur in Lightroom Classic
You've probably heard on the grapevine that there is a new Lightroom Update? You may have even already installed it, but have you had a play with the two new features? Generative AI (artificial Intelligence - it's seeping in everywhere now) and Lens Blur. What are they, how do they work and how good are the results? Let me walk you through them.
Generative AI Remove
The Gen AI remove tool is in the Remove tool section , where heal and Clone can be found. It was there before, but now there is a Gen AI Check Box and that accesses Firefly the Adobe AI Engine. There are three different versions created and you can scroll between each to choose the best attempt for your image. Keep in might this can be totally amazing on some images and a bit hit and miss on others. But it will improve over time, I'm sure. (Refer to my video below).
As you can see it did a great job of removing the little black dog from behind the dog in the foreground.
Lens Blur
Lens Blur was originally added in October 2023, but has seen some refinements. It's has some terrific Bokeh elements which can really been seen with some lights on the above image, but can work well blurring the background on other images too.
I put together a video walking you through the what, when, and how to use these new functions
So if you havent updated your Lightroom, maybe its time to go cheack it all out?
