How I got the photo: Green Tree Frogs

How I got the photo: Green Tree Frogs

I recently ran some Animal Encounter Photoshoots at Reptile Encounters in Burwood. We had three encounters in total and everyone had a blast. I really want to try to underlight the frogs and small reptiles with my Huion Light Pad. I also had a Neewer CB200C LED Light to light the top of the frogs and such up. Here's how I set the scene.

Setting the scene

I used a white cloth under the Light Pad and for the background. We used no props initially but then added a small tree branch..

For the lighting, For light we used the Neewer CB200C on 5600K and 100% and used the Neewer SF65Q softbox. I positioned the light a little to the right and angled at 45 degrees from the subject, up high, and angled down. The bottom of the softbox was roughly level with the top of the table (my standard go-yo setup).

Camera gear and settings

I simply adore how the colour of the frogs simply POP! on the crisp white background. Having the light coming from below, as well as from above brings out all the colour and the details. Isn’t he just so cute?

We also captured a Barred Burrowing Frog and a Rough Necked Leaf Tailed Gecko
