How I got the photo: Winton Art Tank at night

I recently wrote an article on using the Zhiyun Fiveray M20 to light up subjects for your photos. We had so much fun on a recent trip away doing just that.

Art Tank at Winton Wetlands โ€“ painted by Guido van Helten

We have visited this pot many times over the year and have even done some astrophotography here too. Sadly we were here at the wrong time of year and night for good astro, but I decided to have some fun with the Art Tank.

The setup

I set my Sony A7RV and my Sony 16-35mm lens up on a tripod and took a photo with the FiverayM20 on 1% on the ground aimed at the tank set my focus and took my photo of the tank illuminated at 27mm, f/8.0, 20secs, ISO100.

Next without changing any settings, except my ISO (now on ISO1600) I took another photo with the Fiveray M20 turned off. This allowed me to capture the night sky.

Next its a matter of blending the two images in Photoshop and adding a few tweaks. I created a video on just how I did that too.

I have never claimed to be an expert in Night photography or astrophotography, but it is lots of fun to play. here is my finished image.
