Fantasy Conceptual Portraits studio sessions

Fantasy Conceptual Portraits studio sessions

I have not taught many Portrait sessions this year, due to being completely flat out with so many Light painting and Still Life workshops, travel and other teaching commitments. So it was really nice the other week to run a doubleheader with Jess in the studio. Running a morning and afternoon session made for a really busy, but fun-filled day.

We had two different backgrounds and costume changes, from soft and dreamy Pop Princess to dark and dramatic Steampunk, the smoke machine being a big hit, even if it seemed to be possessed by gremlins and had a random mind of its own (honestly it just kept going off randomly and the only way to stop it sometimes was to turn the power off).

Using a mix of LED lights and studio strobes/flash, as well as natural backlight and when weather permitted a few quick sets in the garden. It really was a horrible, wet, windy and cold day, Jess is such a trooper and took everything in her stride.

We made most of the costumes ourselves, with a mix of corsets and wigs thrown in, loads of props, hats, tiaras and more.

Below is a gallery from some of the participants, I really do love seeing the images that come from these workshops, I might provide the theme and original setup, but everyone works really hard to capture some unique images.
